Visit of Bussy-Saint-Georges Mayor Yann Dubosc

25 April 2025
Mayor Yann Dubosc visited the construction site of the upcoming BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu Mandir on the Esplanade des Religions et Cultures in Bussy-Saint-Georges to see the progress of this significant cultural and spiritual project. Having attended the piling ceremony on 4 June 2024, the Mayor was eager to witness how the development had advanced since his last visit.

He was warmly welcomed by Hiren Babariya, senior BAPS volunteer, and then proceeded to look at the overview of the Mandir’s architectural vision, traditional craftsmanship, and its long-term aim to serve the broader community.

During his visit, Mayor Dubosc also took time to look through the Lieux Sacrés exhibition book, in which both the Mandir and the Esplanade des Religions et Cultures were prominently featured during the exhibition held at The Pavillon de l’Arsenal. The publication highlights the spiritual and cultural significance of sacred spaces across the region, and the Mayor expressed appreciation for the Mandir’s inclusion.

As he walked through the site, Mayor Dubosc reflected on how far the project has advanced, noting, “It’s an incredible feeling! The last time I was here, the building was still open, and you could see the sky.”

BAPS volunteers shared how the Mandir is designed to be a place of education, devotion, and harmony for people of all faiths and backgrounds. They also highlighted the Mandir’s future role in community service, youth development, and cultural exchange – values that align closely with the district’s commitment to inclusivity and social cohesion.

The Mayor praised the volunteers for their dedication and teamwork, acknowledging the scale of effort required for such an undertaking.

“I am very very impressed by the work, especially by the organisation that it requires.”

He emphasised the Mandir’s forthcoming contribution to the Esplanade des Religions et Cultures, expressing confidence that it will become not only a spiritual landmark, but also a vibrant community space where residents can learn, celebrate, and share in the richness of cultural diversity.

BAPS volunteer Deep Patel expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Mayor’s ongoing support, sharing, “We are truly grateful to Mayor Dubosc for taking the time to visit and for standing with us throughout this journey. His encouragement reinforces our shared vision of building a space that promotes harmony, understanding, and service for generations to come.”
