Upon arrival, His Excellency was traditionally welcomed and guided through the on-site exhibition that presents the vision, history, and global presence of BAPS. He viewed a scale model of the upcoming Mandir, which offered a detailed glimpse into its architecture, layout, and sacred elements that will define the completed structure. His Excellency expressed appreciation for the breadth of BAPS’s work, noting how these mandirs contribute positively to society.
His Excellency was then taken on a guided tour of the active construction site, where he observed the intricate stone carving and traditional craftsmanship that are central to the Mandir’s design. He showed a keen interest in the construction techniques and the collaboration between artisans in India and engineers in France to bring the project to life. Volunteers explained recent milestones and the careful planning involved in ensuring that every element aligns with ancient Hindu architectural principles. Throughout the visit, His Excellency expressed warm admiration for the project, remarking,
“It’s been a tremendous conversation blending together the artistic visions, the craftsmanship of the artisans, and the engineering skills.”
His Excellency Sanjeev Singla, Indian Ambassador to France
The visit also provided an opportunity to present the Mandir’s broader purpose as a centre for spiritual elevation, cultural understanding, learning, and community service. His Excellency recognised its significance for the Indian diaspora as well as the wider French society, expressing, “We have a sizeable Indian community especially in and around Paris. This temple will be an iconic symbol as a focal point for the community to come together to celebrate so many occasions, whether they are religious in nature or cultural in nature, and that will help our younger community as they grow up here.”
Sanjay Kara, a trustee of BAPS UK & Europe, added, “Every stone placed here carries the prayers and dedication of countless volunteers. We are grateful for His Excellency’s interest in the craftsmanship and vision behind the Mandir. We look forward to welcoming people from every background to experience its message of faith, harmony, and spiritual upliftment.”
