Visitors Learn about the Mandir and Indian Culture on European Heritage Days 2025

20–21 September 2025
As part of the 2025 European Heritage Days, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) welcomed the public to the special visitor marquee opposite the construction site of the upcoming BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu Mandir in Bussy-Saint-Georges, Paris.

The weekend provided a warm and engaging opportunity for residents, families, and heritage enthusiasts to learn more about the Mandirand its cultural and architectural significance.

Inside the marquee, a series of informative exhibition panels and a detailed scale model of the Mandir offered visitors a closer look at the temple’s design, traditional stone craftsmanship, and construction progress. Volunteers shared insights into the Mandir’s history, values, and vision as a spiritual, cultural, and community landmark – the first traditional stone-crafted Hindu temple to be built in France.

The event also offered an immersive introduction to Indian culture. Guests enjoyed demonstrations of traditional dress, music, and customs, with many eagerly trying on saris and attempting to play classical instruments such as the tabla. These hands-on activities created a joyful, welcoming atmosphere that encouraged curiosity, dialogue, and shared learning.

The weekend was very well attended, with visitors expressing excitement about the Mandir’s future contribution to France’s cultural landscape and appreciation for the hospitality of the volunteers.

Held annually across Europe, European Heritage Days celebrate openness, cultural diversity, and access to heritage sites not yet open to the public. This year’s event provided a meaningful platform to build awareness, strengthen community connections, and highlight the Mandir’s significance as a place of harmony, artistry, and inspiring heritage.
